An article on
the online version of the Trinidad Express Newspaper
indicates that the murder rate in Trinidad has reached
197 this year, 83 higher than the rate for the same
period last year. See http://www.trinidadexpress.com/index.pl/article_news?id=161328321
This is a matter that should be of prayer concern to
the Caribbean Church. As we know, we do not wrestle
against flesh and blood but against principalities and
powers and wickedness in the spiritual atmosphere. The
effective response of the Church is prayer warfare.
Please pray that:
God would intervene in Trinidad and Tobago.
God would grant wisdom to the security forces in solving
these crimes and establishing justice in the land.
God would expose criminals throughout our islands and
deliver them to justice.
The level of violence in Jamaica is incredibly high
and from reports on the internet seems to be climbing
in most Caribbean countries – remember the awful massacres
a few weeks ago in Guyana?. Sustained intercessory prayer
is needed – not for a week or two but for many months
and years.
These verses are pertinent:
Numbers 35:33-34, “So you shall not pollute the land
where you are; for blood defiles the land, and no atonement
can be made for the land, for the blood that is shed
on it, except by the blood of him who shed it. Therefore
do not defile the land which you inhabit, in the midst
of which I dwell; for I the Lord dwell among the children
of Israel.”
Amos 5:15, “Establish justice in the gate.”
Psalms 89:14, “Righteousness and justice are the foundation
of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.”
Our lands continue to be defiled with the shedding of
innocent blood. Should we be concerned? Should we become
involved?
Blessings,
Gerry
