SCHOOL
CHILDREN IN DOMINICA
Currently
there are school children in Dominica that requires your help.
They are in need of school books, uniforms and food. Click
to read my testimony In early 2007, I went to Dominica
for a short stay. In doing so, I took some time out to inquire
about non profit organizations that deals directly with children
and the elderly. The following are areas I visited. I wanted
to know how do they do it and what were their needs in relation
to funding.

COUNCIL ON AGEING
You
won't see or read it on National Newspapers, Marpin TV, SAT
, The Radio Stations or YOUTUBE. However, it is very conspicuous
to the eyes but mostly to the eyes that are confronted with
it on a daily bases. 'IT' is the plight of the elderly in
Dominica .
In 2007,
out of concern and curiosity, I visited The Dominica Council
on Ageing where I spoke with two individuals who work there.
I was impressed by the passion and efforts that goes on in
caring for the elderly.
The Dominica
Council on Aging have implemented several activities such
as dominoes and cards games, talent shows and sea baths including
a hot meal a week for members of the council. However, I was
immediately confronted with the set backs that is plaguing
the Council.
They told
the biggest concern to the council is founding. The Government
of Dominica assists financially however; the amount they receive
is minimal and does not meet the needs of members around the
nation. If we were to take time out to inquire about the organizations
and persons who care for the elderly, we would be amazed by
the struggle that they encounter. There is a tremendous cry
for financial assistant and they would like you to help.

Organizations in Dominica that is in need of assistants
The
CCF -Christian Children Fund was another institution I visited
whilst I was in Dominica . I had a very interesting conversation
with one of the employees. I was given a deep insight of the
day to day activity of the CCF . There are several success
stories that are very encouraging and serve as a reminder
that by helpin,g there is room for many rewards.
I must admit, they are doing
a wonderful job on the island with children. Half way into
our conversation, the employee told me about this young lady
who got pregnant whilst in high school. She lives in a deplorable
condition at home and the child's father has abandoned her
and her baby. She had no where to turn but to the CCF . The
CCF is already overburden with so many children under their
care and faced with situations like the aforementioned every
day. They stipulated that the CCF can only do as far as their
funds can allow them to.
